Everyone gets the avocado they deserve!
And we'll tell you why Sicilian avocado is the best
- We could tell you about the magnificent organoleptic properties of our avocado, how creamy it is, why it has that unique, intense flavour in the world, that tastes like pistachio nuts.
- We could tell you why our avocado helps female fertility, so much so that it has been transformed into a pharmaceutical supplement in pills.
But instead of listing chemical-scientific tables, we want to tell you a big story about 3,350 metres: the height of Mount Etna.
Yes, because it is the volcano that nourishes our soil and gives the Sicilian avocado cultivated in Giarre a unique flavour and an extraordinary energy. Like the power of Mount Etna, which periodically puffs, erupts and explodes pyroclastic material from deep within its volcanic walls (the clouds of ash and gas are miles high).
Incandescent stones that cross the sky, cool down and plummet down to the sea.
All this material literally rains down on our land. As happened on February 16, when Etna's strong paroxysmal activity caused a copious rain of ash and lapilli.
From the countryside of San Leonardello, an ancient noble district of the town of Giarre, where we planted the first avocado trees twenty years ago, we witnessed live the images that all of you later saw delayed on national news and on the web: three well-fed lava flows that descended rapidly towards us and a very high column of smoke, fire and ash.

Everything is normal here on the slopes of Europe's largest active volcano. A classic Etna-style "outburst".
But what many don't know is that, precisely from the continuous paroxysmal activity of our beloved volcano, the most energetic, powerful and micro-nutrient-rich natural fertilizer in the world arrives on the land, in the form of rain: volcanic soil.
Grains, pellets, fine sand, even lapilli of several centimetres in size, with a very high concentration of micro-nutrients such as iron, zinc and manganese.
In short, a godsend, a blessing for the earth, but one that is often accompanied by a lot of worry.
The greatest fear is that the volcanic lapilli, shot from Etna at very high speed, will hit our plants like large hailstones, damaging the leaves, plants and even worse, the fruits.
- This is why our Sicilian avocado has such an intense flavour, different from others.
- This is why our avocado has a higher nutrient content than the average of other avocados. Nutraceutical properties so particular and rare that they have made our avocado the perfect ally for female fertility.
- This is why when you receive your Sicily Avocado box, you may find some grains of black sand still clinging to the skin (the lava ash is so fine that it penetrates deeply). This is your indicator of quality and freshness. Each avocado, in fact, is harvested by expert hands, transferred to the warehouse, selected, calibrated and shipped within 24/48 hours of harvesting.
