In Sicily, there is a belief as deeply rooted as it is risky: that everything can be cultivated here, always, anyway, and everywhere.

It's a romantic vision, but far from the agricultural reality. Often, there is a lack of humility to stop, observe, study, and ask. It's taken for granted that merely planting is enough to harvest, without considering that every tropical plant—from avocado to Sicilian mango—has very specific agronomic needs.

These needs must necessarily match the natural characteristics of the territory. Because, beyond what one reads online or hears, some seek answers on the internet or social media, finding quick but overly simplistic solutions. Cultivating—and making them produce well—a tropical plant in Sicily is anything but simple.

Unless one enjoys wasting money, worsening environmental conditions by unnecessarily consuming water and fertilizers, and observing—year after year—a plant that struggles to grow and produces only a few fruits.
