We at Sicilia Avocado have been organically certified since the early 2000s, when talking about organic tropical crops in Sicily was still pioneering. We immediately chose to grow tropical fruit according to natural principles, following clean and sustainable agriculture, respecting the cycles of nature and our territory on the slopes of Etna.

Obtaining organic certification is not a simple process: it requires a conversion of the land of at least two years (for those starting from conventional agriculture), the exclusive use of products permitted in organic farming, and meticulous control throughout the supply chain, from planting to sale.

GlobalG.A.P. (Good Agricultural Practices) certification is an international standard that certifies good agricultural practices, with particular attention to food safety, traceability, and environmental sustainability.

• Ensuring responsible management of water and soil resources.
• Complying with strict protocols on hygiene, the use of approved plant protection products, and complete documentation of every production phase.

This certification is required by many distribution chains at European and international levels because it represents a concrete guarantee for the final consumer.

For Sicilia Avocado, GlobalG.A.P. means offering not only a good and healthy fruit but also a transparent, controlled, and traceable process, from plant to customer.

GRASP (GlobalG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice) is an add-on module to GlobalG.A.P. certification that assesses social practices and respect for workers' rights within the farm.

Being GRASP certified means:

• Guaranteeing fair, safe, and dignified working conditions for everyone involved in the production process.
• Demonstrating compliance with regulations on health and safety at work, remuneration, working hours, and trade union rights.
• Having clear procedures for managing employment relationships and a system for transparency and internal verification.
